Tips for Time Management

1) Realize that time management is a myth.

No matter how organized we are, there are always only 24 hours in a day. Time doesn't change. All we can actually manage is ourselves and what we do with the time that we have.

2) Find out where you're wasting time.

Many of us are prey to time-wasters that steal time we could be using much more productively. What are your time-bandits? Do you spend too much time 'Net surfing, reading email, or making personal calls? Tracking Daily Activities explains how to track your activities so you can form a accurate picture of what you actually do, the first step to effective time management.

3) Create time management goals.

Remember, the focus of time management is actually changing your behaviors, not changing time. A good place to start is by eliminating your personal time-wasters. For one week, for example, set a goal that you're not going to take personal phone calls while you're working. (See Set Specific Goals for help with goal setting.) For a fun look at behaviors that can interfere with successful time management, see my article Time Management Personality Types. Find out if you're a Fireman, an Aquarian or a Chatty Kathy!

4) Implement a time management plan.

Think of this as an extension of tip # 3. The objective is to change your behaviors over time to achieve whatever general goal you've set for yourself, such as increasing your productivity or decreasing your stress. So you need to not only set your specific goals, but track them over time to see whether or not you're accomplishing them.

5) Use time management tools.

Whether it's a Day-Timer or a software program, the first step to physically managing your time is to know where it's going now and planning how you're going to spend your time in the future. A software program such as Outlook, for instance, lets you schedule events easily and can be set to remind you of events in advance, making your time management easier.

6) Prioritize ruthlessly.

You should start each day with a time management session prioritizing the tasks for that day and setting your performance benchmark. If you have 20 tasks for a given day, how many of them do you truly need to accomplish? For more on daily planning and prioritizing daily tasks, see Start The Day Right With Daily Planning.

7) Learn to delegate and/or outsource.

No matter how small your business is, there's no need for you to be a one-person show. For effective time management, you need to let other people carry some of the load. Determining Your Personal ROI explains two ways to pinpoint which tasks you'd be better off delegating or outsourcing, while Decide To Delegate provides tips for actually getting on with the job of delegating.

8) Establish routines and stick to them as much as possible.

While crises will arise, you'll be much more productive if you can follow routines most of the time.

9) Get in the habit of setting time limits for tasks.

For instance, reading and answering email can consume your whole day if you let it. Instead, set a limit of one hour a day for this task and stick to it.

10) Be sure your systems are organized.

Are you wasting a lot of time looking for files on your computer? Take the time to organize a file management system. Is your filing system slowing you down? Redo it, so it's organized to the point that you can quickly lay your hands on what you need. You'll find more information about setting up filing systems and handling data efficiently in my Data Management library.

11) Don't waste time waiting.

From client meetings to dentist appointments, it's impossible to avoid waiting for someone or something. But you don't need to just sit there and twiddle your thumbs. Always take something to do with you, such as a report you need to read, a checkbook that needs to be balanced, or just a blank pad of paper that you can use to plan your next marketing campaign. Technology makes it easy to work wherever you are; your PDA and/or cell phone will help you stay connected.

Ginger as a medicine

Ginger, a plant, which is predominately grown in Africa, Caribbean, India, and Southeast Asia; is sometime referred to as ginger root or root ginger and is used medicinally and as a spice.  It also found in items such as ginger ale, which is known to help relieve an upset stomach.

Ginger has been known to cleanse the blood, this is a positive effect on the heart which, in turn, is a positive effect on all other bodily organs.  It is believed by those who practice Chinese medicine, that if the stomach is healthy all other parts of the body shall remain healthy as well.

Car Sickness
If you are prone to having car sickness, air sickness, or are planning on taking a cruise, bring along tablets of ginger which will settle the stomach and relieve the symptoms.  In general, if you have an upset stomach take a ginger tablet or drink real ginger ale; it is proven to be most effective in treating this ailment.  Another thing to note is if your diet is prone to cause you indigestion from possibly drinking too many cups of coffee or sodas, drink a cup of ginger tea a day to promote a healthy digestive system.

Balancing the body systems

In India they practice a form of medicine known as Avurvedic; it prescribes ginger as a key ingredient to put in foods or drink as a tea to keep the body system regulated.  It is recommended to help treat and reduce the symptoms of a cold.  It works by, as those who practice this Indian medicine, to balance the energy in your body looking for changes in your systems such as hot and cold.  If the ginger finds something that is out of the normal range it will help to balance it.  It is further noted that mixing honey, lemon and ginger together is one of the healthiest drinks your body can utilize.  Honey is said to be a natural antibiotic and has been used for thousands of years in this aspect.  Please note, however, young children should not be given honey; there are risk factors that a young body cannot be subject to until their immune system is working at full capacity.

Benefits

•    Arthritis
Besides being used to spice up meals, ginger root has also been known to treat the symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis.  It is still not known why or how ginger seems to treat arthritis so well but it is an alternative that can be used with other treatments or by itself.

•    Colds
Many people believe, steadfastly, that taking ginger daily or drinking ginger tea with honey is a way to help build the immune system and fight off the common cold.  You can buy ginger tea already prepared or you can buy ginger root and snip or cut off a piece of the root and grind it or smash it using a garlic press.  Add it to boiling water and let it stand for a bit of time; maybe 15 minutes.  Pour into a cup and add honey.  It has a delightful taste and many people are true believers that this has kept them from catching colds or flu during those peak seasons when colds and the flu are at its worst.

How to Make Your Parents Feel Happy ?

1) Let you parents know that everything in your life is good and you are in perfect control. Your parents worry about you and what's going in your life at any point. By letting them know you are doing great, they will be at ease. If you are going thru difficulties, refrain from sharing it with them (unless extremely important) and try to fix it the best way you can without them knowing. This way you save them the stress by keeping the burden off their back.

2) Show respect to your parents at all times. It brings great happiness to parents to see that they are respected by their kids. There's no amount of money that can equal to receiving respect. When you show respect to your parents, you are giving them a priceless gift that makes them happy and proud.

3) Be grateful. Showing gratitude to your parents for everything they have done to you in the past as well as in the present brings happiness to them. Even if their upbringing is less than perfect, you still owe your life to them. Acknowledge your parents' contribution to your growth as a person and don't forget to thank them every moment.

4) Remember your parents' birthdays and important anniversaries. There's no better way for you to let your parents feel happy and special than remembering important dates that matter to them and doing something for them on those special days. Send cards, buy gifts, treat them to special dinners, and spend time with them on those occasions. The memories you created for them will stay in their hearts and make them feel you still love and care for them in their old age.

5) Keep them involved. Invite your parents to parties, birthday celebrations, holiday events, and other family activities you will hold. It makes them happy to still be part of the fun even if they are old.

6) Keep in touch with your parents and update them what's going on in your life. Give them a call and ask how they are especially if you don't see them everyday or you live far from them. Send them photos of yourself and your family. Likewise, give them updates how you've been doing and the activities you are involved in. Make the news positive and uplifting for your parents. Just letting them know how you are brings happiness to them.
